Saint or Sinner?

In a world ruled by the church, Janali finds herself at the mercy of the inquisition. She has little chance of saving her crew from the church while under arrest for heresy. She must engineer her own escape and then convince the head of the church to pardon both her and her crew. If she fails, her crew, her family, and her own lives will be destroyed, wiped clean by the cleansing fires of the inquisition.

What Others are Saying about the Endless Horizons Sagas

Impossible Paradise is his second series and is off to a great start. Strong characters, a nicely textured world, good development of the coming conflict, and it is only the prologue. And with Leeland there is always a twist you don't see coming.” - R. Greco on April 6, 2016

There is plenty of action and a good start on the development of characters that I expect to see more of. It is an excellent lead-in to what I expect will be a great series!” - catselan on April 11, 2016

This episode moves the intriguing story along at a good reading pace. The first two episodes and prologue delivered the hook and introduced us to the main characters. We are now starting to develop an idea in our minds on, who they are and what the characters represent. We can identify their voice, cadence and personality traits. This episode reaches the first plot point and the quest is identified. The POV by Potentate Asonic; the antagonist was written well. His evil, zealous attributes gave me the horrors. He was a mindless, self centred despot, with power issues. The protagonist Lady Janali walks a fine line between her tough, independent, smart exterior and her underlying vulnerability. Leeland proves again that he is a gifted story teller. He as usual expertly weaves vastly different characters in and out of the multi layered sub-plots within the main story arc. There are also some interesting underlying moral issues and pearls of wisdom poking through, if you look deeply enough. I do love the bread crumbs left near the ending. This makes the waiting for the next episode; all the more exciting. The bar has been lifted on the Indie Author world. Well done.

In Service to the Empresses Endless Horizons Sagas Season One Episode Three eBook Leeland Artra Reviews

Interesting characters and plot that makes you wan to find out more..
Great storyline.
I'm enjoying this series that is a bit different than the normal fantasy or sci-fi I normally read. This is my first steampunk style book and the mix of old mechanical with magic works well as it is tied together with deep tradition. But...it's in question! Read the series, it will keep you interested and wanting the next saga right away!
This episode is more difficult to review without spoilers, because it has shifted point of view from Janali to Potentate Asonic, the antagonist. Asonic's voice is very different than Janali's, as well as his views of Terra and the characters the story has revolved around so far. Seeing events from the opposite point of view, as well as the interplay of how Asonic's actions play out against Janali's preparations is a good read. It satisfactorily ends, with both a nice setup for both the next episode, as well as a possible surprise at the end.
Leeland Artra episode 3 is worth 5 Stars for an exciting storyline plus 5 Stars for build-up of episode 4.
In Service to the Empresses is a lively page-turner. This episode takes us into the behavior and thought processes of Potentate Asonic, an arrogant, power mad, narrow minded leader of the Church and Perlustration. He is determined to do whatever it takes to ensure that the void does not enter into his world via any person or method. He takes joy in his ability to hurt while justifying it as necessity.

Discovering that his church train has been sabotaged as he heads for the palace incites his anger to an irrational level. He orders Lady Janali, who is also heading to the palace to speak with the Augur Optimus Janith, to be arrested and brought to his chamber of inquisition. Having already captured the Navigator of her ship, the Vibruis, Lt Metallo, he is preparing to extract a full confession from both before a final, terminable cleansing to remove any trace of the void.

In the midst of this fearsome plan,he, his attendant priests, and Lady Janali are requested to attend the Augur Optimus at the palace immediately. His fury is barely contained, but go they must.

Will this be the meeting he has sought in order to throttle any potential scientific knowledge and preserve the Power of the Church? Or could there be another reason for it? You will not be putting the book down until you have learned the answer.
